I toyed with the Deus a couple of times has simply hd no interest in it. Didn't question some of the performance, just didn't care for all the 'excess' it has. I settled on the ORX having had a couple of them (3) last year and errantly letting mine go to 'Hombre.' Picked up the one OregonGregg had ... briefly ... and put my settings in it so it is good-to-go for the places I'll use it. I have the 5X9½ HF DD coil mounted, but also have a 9" X-35 I'll try to figure out if it's for me or not.
For me it only has two user custom slots and that ought to be all I need. There are 8 custom slots on the Deus? Get too many things going and there might be too little change or too much change resulting in poor programs. Let's see, you can make one program for Lonesome Arch, one of Lone Tree, another for Lost, maybe one for Toano and another for Tobar, can't forget Cobre ....of wit!!! That's 6 custom programs already!! Only 2 left!!!
Nope, I think things can be kept very simple with just one or two 'custom' programs and if needed make a slight on-site adjustment IF NEEDED. Can't figure a need for 8 programs.
None-the-less I hope you get it figured out because the XP's can perform well in some really challenging iron contamination and other places.

Only 2 places for customer settings ? I have 4 i rotate through in the Deus, two for ghost towns (one dense iron / tin, the other less dense iron / tin, one for the ski slopes, and another for yards of old homes and parks. I expect i'll end up with a 5th for nugget hunting with the HF elliptical. I make minor tweaks for each program as necessary for local conditions.
Most of the time with my EQ800 I use 1 of the programs that i have adjusted for normal conditions in yards and parks. If the ground is wet and I'm being fooled by too many deep rusty nails, I will make 2 changes to my settings to offset the conditions. I have a 3rd "program" for when i shallow water hunt (fresh water) that adjusts all of my low and mid-tones so I don't miss those lovely gold, platinum and palladium rings.
Of course, i could just manually make all of these changes depending on where i go, but why not save the settings if I can and like Monte says, Keep things simple !
