Joel, Just read what I wrote and not fit things in between the lines. Remember, I said I hope the Deus II satisfies the folks who buy it because they know what they want and need, for the types of hunting they do. I stated that I liked some of what I saw, but for ME and the bulk of the detecting I AM going to be doing, it falls a bit short of my expectations.

Ha ha ha Monte you keep telling yourself that your Apex, bandito, or whatever you want use can do the same job performance wise. Your story buddy, whatever floats your boat man.
The Tesoro Bandido's, since 1990, have proven their abilities afield for me, especially the Bandido II µMAX
(microMAX), since late in '97. The Garrett Apex, again
for me,
my wants and
my needs for the places I'll grab it, has more performance potential than I have heard or seen 'demonstrated' by some individuals. Some, I believe, who have a certain bias. They happen to prefer a different foreign brand, and they also favor detectors that retailed for about double the amount. I know several people who own and use an Apex, and other detectors, who have also found it to work much better for them once they learned it.
As for 'other' detectors I have and happen to like, there are my two very proven Nokta FORS CoRe and FORS Relic units with a small ±5" coil, and even a Makro Racer 2 that should arrive tomorrow as I add one of those back in my Outfits. They are all very trusted detectors for taking on Iron contaminated ghost towns, and the Racer 2 can also fill-in as an urban Coin & Jewelry Hunting device. Plus I just added a Teknetics Patriot and will outfit it with coils I want for some urban Coin Hunting.
Also, in that above post, I stated they can do a
'comparable' job in the many videos I have watched from over in the UK and elsewhere. I never said they could match the top-performance, but they can come
'reasonably close' when I watch people using the shovels to dig a plug, then have to dig deeper to get to the targets. Remember, too, that while they might occasionally encounter an Iron Nail or some other ferrous trash close to the good target, they are not going to produce the best depth-of-detection when there are shallower targets than can mask the deep ones.

Apparently you weren't watching the same videos the rest of the world was. Like I said before many different perspectives of the detecting world. If just gonna be a clad chaser at 3" might as well just use your pinpointer on your hands and knees. As for me if I'm gonna go dig, im gonna go dig. I'm not gonna limit myself to 3 inches.
I watched a lot of videos, most from foreign countries, and yes, some of Calabash Digger's, but they tire me very quickly. When someone tells you their detectors works well, does what they hoped for, and they are impressed with it, fine. Nut when someone repeats, over-and-over that they have THE BEST detector for hunting relics, or THE BEST detector for working in iron, or that there is NO BETTER DETECTOR out there, it's time to change the program.
Yes, indeed, there are a lot of different perspectives and different views fit each of us 'differently' for some uses. Note that I have stated that, due to my terrible health limitations, I am switching back to doing 85% urban Coin Hunting. That relates to 'locations' I will usually work. Nowhere, anywhere, did I state I was going to just be a 'modern clad hunter' and definitely not limiting myself to 3" depth. I have found a lot of older coins, trade tokens and interesting artifacts in my Coin & Jewelry Hunting days, and they typically are recovered from surface to 4" or 5", on occasion 6" or so, but that's because in most locations I hunt there isn't a good reason for them to be located any deeper than that.
If you can tote a shovel and dig, all the more power to you, as long as it is in a proper place to use a shovel. And I will not be limiting my recoveries to 3" either. In my case, for those who don't know how miserable life can be for me these days, I simply can't handle the heavy shovel or the movement required to let loose of my cane to try and dig. I am just trying to enjoy this great sport the best I can, acknowledging my physical limitations as they come.

Also I'm gonna get the best equipment I can afford. I honestly don't get you man, they finally come out with a machine that's cutting edge technology, depth, separation, and weight and you say ah well I'm gonna go dig clad at 3 inches ha ha ha. Have fun chasing clad at 3 inches.
Like you, I also like to have the equipment that I feel is best, for me, and that I can afford.
'Cutting edge technology' is a generally loose term that many might argue. I had a couple of other White's detectors in the latter '90s to 2014, and I haven't seen a Deus II demonstrate 'Cutting Edge Technology' when it comes to a Bottle Cap Reject circuitry like my XLT I bought back in June of '94.
As for 'Depth', that's another interesting topic alone that could be discussed, and there are many times and places where you can not get any 'depth', or due to the location you can't dig down enough to take advantage of it.
Separation is always an interesting topic, and like 'depth' it can be a topic all its own. But what is 'separation' and is that involving junk targets being rejected / eliminated or only a speedy recovery from good-target to good-target?
The Deus, Deus II and ORX are all in the same class of being very light weight so a

to them for that.
But once again, you're saying I am only going after modern clad coins, and also chasing them at 3". Very incorrect.

Any other time nothing ever held you back from having the best of the best. Texas must of really rubbed you the wrong way. Well hopefully being back in Utah will get the normal Monte back. Let me know if ya want to cancel that legend order. Doesn't sound like you need it.
I still have models that are some of the "best-of-the-best" for my wants and needs, and I am still hoping The Legend turns out to be a decent rival for the Equinox 800. I did notice that not all of the Nox users are abandoning ship for the new XP product, and on quite a few of the Deus II Vs Equinox 800 'tests' or comparisons I've seen, I preferred the EQ's audio response and overall performance of the two. The Legend just might be s very good rival for that niche of the SMF market.
