I will agree with you Joel about the Deus 2 being better in heavy modern trash and thick iron especially with that 9" coil. However, if you put that 5x10 coil on the Equinox it does pretty good in trashy parks. That being said I'm more of a get out in the middle of the field kind a guy when it comes to parks. Looking for the deep coin in open spaces and in that regard the Minelabs just can't be beat IMO. The deep silver just pops with those machines where as the Deus 2 is more like a soft squeak, easy to miss. The other thing I don't like about the Deus 2 when it comes to deep silver hunting is the compressed TID at the upper end. Dimes 94 silver quarter 97, too close to iron wrap numbers and it's really difficult to ID a deep nail over a deep silver coin in mineralized soil. Chased quite a few of those deep nails now with the Deus 2. The Deus 2 does have way better target ID over the Deus 1 for sure.
I personally don't think Paystreak cares for the Equinox, at least from the videos I've seen. The Equinox takes many hours to learn and I think most people try to run it like other machines, which doesn't work. It has a language of it's own, can't be whipped around like maniac and honestly many people never figure that out and give up on it.
I personally could take the Equinox to any site and do well with it, yes it has it's limitations but I can deal with that. But overall I think the Equinox/Deus 2 combo is about impossible to beat at this point and time. The Deus 2 is an excellent beach, ghost town (with 9" coil) and trashy park machine. Some are claiming it's the only metal detector you need anymore. Although very versatile, I disagree for 2 reasons. One, I enjoy using other machines on the market and Two, there are still other machines on the market that do certain things better than the Deus 2.
