Re: Relevance of "All metal" mode

The way I hunt with the Tesoro Tejon might be relevant to the Vista X and other analog machines.
I typically set my primary discrimination to trim out the lower trash and often use key break points depending on the hunting I do: Iron cut nail, Foil, US Nickel, Degraded Zink Penny. These key break points allow me to run silently and have an idea of the target type I hear.

Example woudl be I would set Disc 1 to break on an iron nail and then set my Disc 2 higher such as degrade zinc. When I hear a nice round signal I jump to D2 and this tells me if the target maybe copper or better. Signal disapears then I know it is in the mid and low conductor range.

Next I use All Metal mode to check the target size and determine depth by the vco. Often a faint broken signal on d1 could be a larger piece of iron and the vco will reveal the targets true size.

Disc mode set to 0 has similar depth to all metal mode on the Tejon however fringe targets can drop off and all metal will still pick them up as their phase is just too weak to pick up in a disc mode.

So All metal mode is absolutely critical on an analog machine as it tells you more when investigating targets.

With all that being said why hasn't anyone made an analog machine that has the following features:

Single threshold based discrimination

Threshold

Ground Balance that can handle alkid to mild soils (maybe a salt mode)

Disc and trigger push button or trigger all metal pinpoint (Tesoro)

Sensitivity (control to fine break point between ground phase and target phase)

Gain (control for power)

VCO audio for target signal strength

Audio pitch for phase shift ie low tone for low conductors and high pitch high conductors. Not a 2 tone machine but rather full range of audio that directly relates to the phase shift.

That would be a machine I would buy in a heartbeat.

Relevance of "All Metal" mode? It depends on the terminology and design and use.

A few more comments on All Metal and detector designs.
