'Thank You' and yes, there is a marked difference in any type of test anyone does since other might not have the same size and type coins, or at times other test samples are used that are unfamiliar to others.

Our US Silver Dollars are a larger-size coin and high-conductive. They were minted of 90% Silver, and they measure 38.1 mm in diameter, about 2 or 2+ mm thick, they weigh 412.5 grams and contain .77344 ounces of silver or just over 75% silver. They are a large coin, and multiplying their thickness, when stacked together, bare metal to bare metal, they can pose a challenge to some metal detectors based upon the settings used ... and in many cases the settings that are controlled by factory tuning or software design.

As for search coils, in my post after the one I did to Rich(Utah), you can see the detectors I have in my Regular-Use Detector Outfit and the search coils I keep mounted on them full-time. They include a dinky 5" Teknetics coil on an Omega 8000, an 'OOR' DD on the Nokta CoRe, a 5" DD on a Relic, 5"½" Concentric on a modified Classic ID, 6" Concentric on my three Tesoro's, a 6½" Concentric on the MX-7, and 7" Concentric on an Omega 8000 and Fisher F44 plus a 7" Concentric on my Anfibio Multi. The only thing bigger and what I use in more open areas, are a 5X9½ DD on a FORS CoRe and the same size on a FORS Relic.

I started out with a home-made detector with an 8" coil and many early detectors I used came with coils in the 6" to 8" diameter, but since the early '70s and especially since '83 I like to use a coil that is roughly in the 5" to 7" size.

5 should work but 6 is what I use to match 6 coins in the Half & Dollar stack.
