'Thank You' Todd. And those 6 silver dollars were naked?

You know, not in a cardboard coin holder or plastic container or plastic bag, just bare metal silver touching bare metal silver?

I took both detectors back out along with 6 silver dollars this time. I tested the Vaquero equipped with the 6" coli and the Relic with the 5".
The 6" on the Vaquero was a Concentric coil and the 5" Relic coil is a Double-D, correct?

And since you did this outdoors you ground balanced each device for the area where you had the coin stack, right?

Of the 2 the Vaquero had the best response with a solid strong beep. The Relic was had a little scratch to the signal beep. In my first post when I said a ( solid enough hit) I did mean a hit that warranted digging the target. The TID on the Relic bounced from the low to high 90s.
Those are the results I would expect to hear. Like I tell folks all the time, there is no such thing as a 'perfect' detector or detector & coil combination and that's why I have had 2 or more (usually 4 or more) different detectors in my Outfit since late '71 / early '72.

In this particular case, I really rank my Nokta CoRe and Relic very high as the two best detectors that I can grab to hunt any site with a dense array of iron nails or other ferrous and non-ferrous. I have other models I my Detector Outfit that can do very well in the super iron littered ghost towns I prefer to hunt, such as my Tesoro's or White's Classic ID or MX-7, and now the superb Nokta-Makro Anfibio Multi. The advantage goes to the CoRe and Relic for the toughest Iron Nail challenges I encounter simply be cause the outperform the rest, plus they are so well balanced and comfortable to use.

Because most sites abound in iron trash my #1 detector favorite is the FORS Relic w/5" DD coil. In areas with a modest amount of ferrous litter to contend with the CoRe holds its own very well, but the Relic's Iron Audio Volume gives it a bit of an edge as well as operating at 19 kHz.

Both these models can easily be worked in any urban location for typical Coin & Jewelry Hunting, but I do have a few other models that I prefer for most Coin & Jewelry Hunting, especially when my mobility encourages me to use the absolute lightest weight detector possible. My White's modified Classic ID, MX-7 and the Nokta-Makro Anfibio Multi are my other grab-and-hunt devices for the very challenging ghost tows, but they still work great around town. But my lightest, and surprisingly effective, citified Coin Hunting devices are my Teknetics Omega 8000 and now the Fisher F44.

Most detectors that can handle the stacked-up high-conductive Silver Dollars struggle to also handle my Nail Board Performance Test and visa-versa. Two very different challenges we can encounter afield and it's great to have two or more detectors so that one can handle a different challenge should it arise.

The Nokta Relic, by the way, has been one of the models I get asked about the most over the past two years I've been using it, and I keep alert for any opportunity to snap one up when I can for someone who wants to get a terrific Relic Hunting unit. I have sold 'new' to 'as new' FORS Relics I've acquired the past year-and-a-half. I have another same-as-new Relic here now, and an extra FR26 DD coil, the 5½X10 Double-D, that is blem-free. Christmas is over so now someone can treat their self to a post-Christmas detector.winking smiley

Now I just need some drier and warmer weather to invite me out.
