Drew, sorry, but no I haven't used a PI on this test scenario.

I started using this as one of my performance tests many years ago especially for checking how new detectors performed with the supplied search coils, but also because I wanted to use it in my seminars to show folks some of the tuning issues they could face, or mis-tuning I should say, of many models. I had seen some bad suggestions on forums, or even prior to that being suggested by dealers selling Tesoro's to try and help new consumers have an easier time learning their detector.

Most of the time small quantities of hidden silver coins are a 'Stash' of secreted money around old homes and surrounding structures and were more likely to be encountered by the average Hobbyist out for some fun detecting. I used larger containers of coins to simulate a hidden 'Cache' but those are encountered far less often than a small 'Stash' of coins. And since most Hobbyists might find these when searching old places with a lot of trash, including nails and other iron, they would be using Discrimination to reject junk and, with some makes and models, that can impair detection of a stack of silver coins.

The desire to hunt with Discrimination wouldn't include the use of a PI, plus a very small percentage of detector operators would understand or use a pulse detector. So, I never bothered to test one.
