Today we have a break in the weather so I headed outside with my 5 silver half dollars and one silver dollar. I had my Racer 2 with a 7" coil, D3 program, gain 99. This damp soil ground balanced at 82 (Central Oregon.)
This has been the standard Test Scenario (the 5-Silver Halves on top of 1-Silver Dollar) that I have used for a long time. You would be surprised to know how many detectors fail, or drastically stumble on this test.

I appreciate knowing the particular model, search mode, settings and search coil used, as well as the Ground Phase once balanced.

Above approximately 7" measured with a yardstick I got an intermittent choppy signal in all directions. I probably would not have dug it.
At 7" I got a choppy high tone that I would have pursued, but no TID (but as a rule, I do dig iffy signals many times.)
At 6" I got a good tone all ways and the TID was high but jumpy. I definitely would have dug it.
At 4" I got a good tone and a TID of 96 that was pretty consistent.
Your results on this high-conductive sample set-up is about what I would expect for the above 7", the 7" and even the 6" coil-to-sample distances. Usually, with that model the audio response and visual display are not good. More often than not the 'choppy' or inconsistent audio would be there at all those distances, and a lock-on visual display would also not be anticipated.

As Rich(Utah) suggested, you might want to try this again in the 2-Tone and DEEP modes. Also give it a try with a Double-D search coil instead of the Concentric coil.

What was the Discrimination setting you used?

When those 6 silver coins are all bare metal and touching, not in a 2X2 card or otherwise separated, this is a very interesting learning experience. The Nokta FORS CoRe and Relic, plus the Impact and Multi-Kruzer, didn't handle this test very well. My two CoRe and two Relic devices are not going anywhere because they provide the best performance in some very dense nails and other ferrous contaminated sites with their smaller-size DD search coils, and I also use their 5X9½ DD coils in most iron debris areas, but they struggle on the higher-conductive test.

I have used other silver coin mixes when I evaluate detectors, but the base standard in my seminar sample jar is the one you used. Rich made the testing even more challenging when he stacked up to 5 Silver Dollars in addition to using my Test Sample. In the results I posted using the Test Stack #2-5, which is 5 Silver Dollars, all my other makes and models did well.

Using Test Stack #2-5 plus the Test Stack #1 (my 5-Silver Halves on top of 1-Silver Dollar) placed on top of the Dollar stack, which combine to make Test Stack #3, the ONLY Nokta-Makro device that I have or have used that gets a solid repeatable audio response and a reasonably tight visual TID is my Anfibio Multi, using the 7" Concentric coil, in 2-Tone, 3-Tone and DEEP modes, with a Disc. at '03' and Gain at '95' to '99.' and only at 5 kHz.

Changing only the operating frequency to 14 kHz or 20 kHz makes the audio and visual response anywhere from slightly chattery and inconsistent to very terrible and definitely not of interest to encourage recovery on Test Stack #3. On my 'standard' short-stack of 5-Halves and 1-Dollar it does fine at the default 14 kHz and starts to get less interesting at 20 kHz. All of this with the 7" Concentric coil.

On the reply I made showing the very good to excellent performance on the tall and more challenging Test Stack #3 results with the 7.69 kHz Fisher F44 w/7" Concentric coil, 7.8 kHz Teknetics Omega 8000 w/7" Concentric coil, 6.59 kHz White's Classic ID w/5½" Concentric coil and 13.9 kHz MX-7 w/6½" Concentric coil, I didn't make a Ground Balance adjustment because of the nails and other metal in my den floor. I left them at a previous setting used or the default turn-on GB adjustment.
