Drew, detector tests on Silver stacks, and for WTHO's.

I'll be interested in how you other detectors perform on short-stacks of big silver coins, such as the 5 Walking Liber Halves on a Silver Peace Dollar, or even the tougher test of putting that stack on top of 5 silver dollars.

As for what detectors to bring along on a Welcome-to-Hunt Outing, that will depend. The 10th WTHO on May 9th-12th in Ogden, Utah is going to be offering a lot of newer to older city parks that will offer a lot of urban Coin Hunting opportunities. There will also be a couple of rural and out-of-the-way old Relic Hunting possibilities, and with any luck we might find some renovation work that is huntable.

The 11th WTHO from June 13th - 16th will be based in Wells, Nevada, and that will definitely encourage you to bring the better Relic Hunting devices for tackling dense iron contaminated environments with you. From what you listed, I would suggest the Nokta Relic w/5" DD for sure, and maybe a mid-sized coil, then call your shots from there.

I know the modified IDX Pro w/6½" Concentric coil is workable in some iron or for urban hunting, and the XLT with that coil or an 8" Concentric would be useful for urban areas as well. The important thing is to bring along the right detectors, the right coils, and ample patience.

5 should work but 6 is what I use to match 6 coins in the Half & Dollar stack.
