a very detailed and thorough response monte! for which i thank you!.
Remember that my response above was directed toward only the Tek. T2+ and Fisher F44 using their 5" DD coils, and also to try and explain the difficulty trying to define "separation" or "response-and-recovery" combined with using Discrimination for target rejection as it relates to trying to handle various ferrous junk targets. It is understanding these different circuitry behavior of different detectors, search coil sizes and types, that are necessary to provide the ability to unmask partially blocked non-ferrous targets in a ferrous debris challenged site.

it would appear that as result of your splendid explanation, the t2 + boasting the 5" d.d. coil would be the "superior combination for "urban coin shooting" as opposed to the f44 with 7" coil, because the t2 separates better in dense iron environments, and is proven to be 'faster" in recovery speed over all...
Using a 5" DD coil on a T2+ can provide me with exception 'separation' when urban Coin Hunting when encountering numerous, closely-spaced non-ferrous targets compared with the F44 w/5" DD or most other makes and models with a comparably-sized smaller coil.

For example, in MY case with the detectors I have using a smaller-size search coils, and using that tough test strip of 7 nickel-size Trade Tokens that are center-to-center all spaced on a 12" wooden ruler, the T2+ is the fastest or quickest at 'separation.' I used the following detector and coil combinations against the T2+ w/5" DD:

Fisher F44 w/4" Concentric
Fisher F44 w/5" DD
Fisher F44 w/7" Concentric
Teknetics Omega 8000 w/5" DD
Teknetics Omega 8000 w/7" Concentric
Nokta FORS CoRe w/ 4.7X5.2 DD that I named the 'OOR' coil because it is just slightly Out-Of-Round.
Nokta FORS Relic w/5" DD
Nokta-Makro Anfibio Multi w/5" DD
Nokta-Makro Anfibio Multi w/7" Concentric
Tesoro Bandido II microMAX w/6" Concentric
Tesoro Silver Sabre microMAX w/6" Concentric
White's modified Classic ID w/5" Ferret Concentric
White's MX-7 w/7" DD made for them by Detech
White's MX-7 w/6½" Concentric

Of this group of detectors and search coils compared, the T2+ produced the fastest response-and-recovery on that tough test strip, easily besting all of the other with just two exceptions. Those I put in bold as they are very, very close in recovery speed.

So for urban Coin Hunting, yes, the T2+ w/5" DD will be faster than the F44 w/7" Concentric for 'separation' of closely-spaced desirable non-ferrous targets, such as multiple coins.

However, you through in the comment: ".. because the t2 separates better in dense iron environments.." and I'd have to give a hesitated response to that part of the comment. The Teknetics T2 series circuitry can provide better separation in a dense iron contaminated site compared with the Teknetics Omega 8000 and 8500, G2 and G2+, or Fisher Gold Bug Pro, F19 or F44 so, Yes, I would say it has an edge against the other named models when they are also using a 5" DD coil, or any other coil they offer.

My reply to your comment would be that, favoring the T2+ w/5" DD for separation and dealing with a heavy iron target challenge, but for the bulk of my Coin Hunting sites, I do NOT deal with a dense amount of iron. Usually it is only the occasional nail or other iron target and they are well spaced. If I know a Coin Hunting site also posses a vast amount of iron to deal with. the other models will sit in the bleachers and watch the two models in bold easily take on the fearsome ferrous junk. If for some reason I left either of those home, then the T2+ w/5" DD would be the next model grabbed out of those I listed.
