Almost, but not with a tough iron challenge.

as you mentioned,and i agree,there really is no absolute answer to targets practically on top(or right next to each other) and partial,or whole masking will still ensue. it is interesting to note that from your extensive experience
in the field hunting in those varying conditions that the t2+with 5" dd coil offers the "best" "shot",(if you will),of "working" satisfactorily in these unique situations.

(h.h.!)

j.t., I really like the T2+ with 5" DD as I have stated numerous times, but I also clarified why I like it. For it's Simplicity and light-weight making it comfortable, and it has Functional settings and performance that work for me mainly for Coin Hunting when working a site free of trashy, especially ferrous-based trash.

The T2+ responsive behavior can be helpful since it can quickly respond to, recover, and again respond to a closely associated NON-FERROUS object, and that's a performance 'edge' this model offers. However, it does NOT offer the "best shot" when it comes to working satisfactorily when the associated targets are nails or other iron debris.

I have a couple of tests I use, and one in particular, that is a very difficult for any detector to handle well, even if the Disc. is set high at the ferrous / non-ferrous break point. With all the detector models I have on-hand at the present, to include two Tesoro's two Fisher 44's, two Teknetics Omega 8000's, a White's MX-7 and a modified Classic ID plus a Nokta-Makro Anfibio Multi that can come close to performing like the T2+ w/5" DD using their smaller-size search coils. They might fall just a little short, or they might just slightly edge out the T2+ when it comes to handling the one single iron nail laying on top of the very thin, small, copper button-front.

Some of these models with their smaller coil will either not respond well to that test sample, or they might only give a 2-Beep response either sweeping across the Nail or "down-the-barrel" of the Iron Nail, but I only have TWO detectors that, using their smaller coil, will produce 4-Beeps going back-and-forth across the Iron Nail, or length-wise with the Iron Nail when their Disc. is set low to:

• just accept the Nail;

• Disc. set at a point to just barely reject the Nail;

• Or with the Disc. increased all the way to the Ferrous / Non-Ferrous break-point.

None of the other models I mentioned, including the Anfibio Multi or T2+ with their 5" DD coils, can match the response-and-recovery time as well as good-target response with the higher Discrimination settings mentioned above to reject the iron Nail and respond to the thin-metal Button-front that is the diameter of a US 1¢ coin and perform like the Nokta FORS CoRe and FORS Relic.

Keep all targets non-ferrous and the T2+ w/5" DD then comes out on top which is why I like it more for typical Coin Hunting and not as the best pick for iron-challenged Relic Hunting sites.
