Well said Gregg, one thing u forget about those sites across the pond is they also have to deal with coke, acts just like those rusted up tin flakes and junk. The best discrimination will always be my ears and hearing those small tonal differences that alert me to the small iron flakes or junk. I havent found a machine that deal with those small rusted tin pieces well. I have found some that do much better than the rest tho. Im not a hater so i wont bash anyone elses favorite machines when it comes to this topic.

There are just too many variables out there that confront us all, and the best we can do is select a detector that we feel comfortable with and learn it well, then put it to work as best as it is capable of in the hope we can make some good finds. No detector is 'perfect' so we just have to learn their weak points and make use of them as best we can to take advantage of their strengths.

There are some makes and models that, for whatever reasons, just don't work for me in certain applications so I don't own them. But if it works for someone else, that's fine. I can easily demonstrate the favorable features or performance of the various models I like and own and hunt with, and I don't mind using a different detector to demonstrate different strengths or weaknesses of other makes and models, but some people seem to go out of their way to bad mouth and bash a detector in a rude manner. Naturally, I must be referring to someone like calabash digger who seems to go out-of-their-way to be rude and belittling at times.

I have a couple of models that I prefer for the nasty, iron infested old sites we enjoy hunting, but I also have different makes and models that I enjoy for a lot of urban Coin Hunting, and some that can work quite well for both urban and rural hunt sites. They are all very good detectors, and all work quite well for me, and that is the important thing. They work for me.

There are some models that, for an assortment of reasons, just aren't one of my personal favorites, like the XP Deus you use, the Minelab Equinox that Rich(Utah) likes to grab, or even the Garrett AT Pro that NWCindy feels is a good detector for her selected sites. But even though I don't personally care for them to be in my Outfit, I still know they can work and make others happy, so if others are having 'fun' and enjoying this great sport, well, that's fine with me, too.
