Yes, I vividly remember those days and since I do I'll set the record straight. If I recall, the Barber Half was in Spring 2015 and was a pure black disc laying right on top of the ground. You swept your V3i rite over it, but it wasn't until you advanced another foot or so and actually tripped over it that I believe is when you discovered it.

As far as the shield nickel and very nice fob, I met up with Zincoln a few days earlier over in Utah and we detected our way back to Wells to start the outing on Thursday. Of course, poor ol'OregonGregg wasn't having the best of luck, Zincoln seemed to be finding the stuff. We arrived in Wells a day early and didn't feel it was right to hit the usual spots we normally hit on the outings early before others arrived.

So that day we were sitting in Bella's cafe getting something to eat and I mentioned to Zincoln, a year or so ago I talked to an ol'boy and he said the original Wells townsite was off over towards the tracks and I pointed over in the direction. So Zincoln said let's go give it a shot.

It was a fairly big area, but we started out and worked our way across the sagebrush site. A while later as we approached the present day tracks, Zincoln hollered out " I think I found a Trade Token...or something" I was thinking to myself, dear lord, here we go again. So I hustled over there and sure enough, you could see that big "5" thru the crust, but instead of a token, it turned out to be a nice shield nickel. We then concentrated around that area and wasn't long he found the really nice baggage tag. I did manage to find a 1939 squished penny from the Fair/Expo in San Fran.

In all honesty, I don't ever recall saying I wanted to throw you in front of the train ( although at times it seemed like a really really good idea) but I confess I did on more than several occasions threatened to throw that V3i in front of the train. I regret and I am sorry.............sorry I didn't carry thru with it and throw that damn V3i on the tracks in front of the train.......as it came back to haunt me once again in Lonesome Arch......something about a Seated Quarter .......anyhow, that's another whole story.

But once in awhile poor ol' OregonGregg gets lucky hunting with Zincoln. I found this target that was encrusted with dirt, was like cemented on and rang in lower than a nickel. Had no idea what it was, thought maybe it was a button. I had my gloves on and couldn't get the dirt to come off it so I handed it to Zincoln. He took his fingernail and the crust popped off in one piece. I was standing about 10 feet away or so and all the sudden he shouted" You $#%&$ I thought "Oh Dear" what now. Well, that little button turned out to be a nice 1874 three cent nickel smiling smiley and actually falls into the "Favorite Finds" category.

P.S. Cindy still have the Pheasant pendent.
