But there was one interesting moment for me, too, that brings about my interest in handling a Garrett ATX to learn what it can and can't do, or the hows and whys of why it can or can't do certain things. That moment came on this last Test Scenario with 1 Iron Nail and 1 brass Button Front when the fellow with the ATX pulse model turned it on to check it out. It was a non-response moment. I mean NON-RESPONSE!

The owner was about as astonished as I was, but it did spark my interest in determining why it didn't provide any good response at all. There was NO response.

Could happen, if ATX Ground Track settings was set to "FAST" instead to "OFF", par example.

Along with Ground Balance ATX offers (sometimes delicate in use) Ground Track function too.

What was settings for ATX Discrimination and Ferro Check?

I tested Garrett ATX 5 years ago. In short: it is very stable in high (Ferro) mineralization environment, capable in Ferro / Non-Ferro differentiation, but (more than expected) shallow to natural gold nuggets and relatively insensitive to tiny gold nuggets in hot mineralization. But if you need detector for underwater (till 3m depth in salt water also) hunting, it can become reliable underwater partner.
