Re: What frequency am i really anyway?

Sorry Rich, you fell for the April 1st measurement ;-) I figured it would freak out some.

I was just getting started attempting to measure the output from the 800, to see what was going on. As you notice, the analyzer I used only went up to 22KHz - typical CD music output. So this was not a fair test at all. Need to go up to 40KHz at least. Also, the transmit frequency was manually set to 15 KHz, so naturally that's all there was on Park 1.

I have since finalized the test setup, to include a measurement up to 50KHz, and reset the 800 to factory default. Fear not, the 800 does indeed put out multiple simultaneous frequencies in ALL modes. The machine obviously changes its method for analyzing the signal in the receiver - based on the selected modes. So, indeed, it probably "weights" different frequencies in different modes (i.e. lower frequencies in Park 1, higher frequencies in Park 2)

So what Minelab states about better ID capabilities could be true, based on feedback from users, and theory.

The (maybe) negative - reported by users - is that it is not a "deep seeker". Potentially because the transmitter puts out multiple frequencies. A way to test this would be to see the difference in depth between using Multi-IQ and a single frequency on a target. I'm not sure whether this is true, or Minelab didn't want to badly hurt their CTX business, or it doesn't exist! Conceivably the transmitter's field strength is hurt by the coil not being tuned to a single frequency to provide maximum intensity. I just don't know fer sure.

See attached graph for the actual output from the transmitter - and this was the same for all modes.
