Spring? It was late coming and ought to be here soon ...

... sometime!

A late winter of cold, more than enough high winds and very rainy weather, with just little 'hints' of what Soring is supposed to be. The local weather folks say 'spring' might arrive in about a week. That's about the time one or two friends are rumored to appear for some eventful detecting at some older sites. I'm really looking forward to that occurring when it will be dry, and we'll have some shirtsleeve weather for detecting. Hopefully.

We had a real shocker of a winter in '16/'17 with record-breaking cold and snow levels that was unbelievable for around here. And as miserable and long as that winter lasted, we got into those gold mining era ghost towns by mid-April only to be welcomed by a heavier dose of ticks than we dealt with the entire year before. Ticks!angry smiley

I'm concerned with the amount of late-season snows in the hills and mountains with a lot of heavy rain down here in the lower farm and ranch land that, with the soon arrival of sun and warmth, we're going to be checking and double-checking ourselves this year for ticks as well.

But there are still 'keepers' to be found so they are just one more on-site challenge we'll have to deal with. Of course we're not stingy about sharing some of our hunt sites and anyone is welcome to come by for a visit and detecting jaunt out to some old places with us, just follow the rules:

Rule #1: Bring a decent detector with you so we won't feel bad about you trying to do well with a sub-par performing detector and leave saddened.

Rule #2: You're welcome to gather up and take a lot of our 'ticky friends' home with you when you leave.

Spring's sun, warmth, and I guess tiny critters are welcome.
