I have an ORX in the mail so Monte, I hope you're ready to instruct.
Never handled one so I am in the same ORX 'skill level' as you are. Just getting one and will need to familiarize myself with it, learn it, compare it, and then I might be of some help to some folks as I progress. It's a different functioning detector to me, and I haven't used a n XP Deus, either, so there's no hope there.

We have some AHRPS Forum members as well as participants in our Welcome-to-Hunt Outing group who own and use a Deus and/or an ORX who are familiar with them who can be helpful, if we ask the right questions. D&P-OR had a Deus and have an ORX (or should be receiving one this week), and I watched Lance H., 'Digstrashtomuch ', work his Deus w/9" HF round coil, along with other makes and models, on the 10th WTHO in Utah earlier this month. The ORX has the DEUS' DNA and his results were very impressive.

Then, naturally, we can't forget 'Kickindirt' when we need help, either. Joel's most notably the most frequent poster and boaster when it comes to what the XP detector's can do, especially in the more challenging old sites some of us enjoy searching. He's been harping on the XP DEUS performance for a long time and is the main culprit behind the promptings that drove me to buy a new ORX myself. I also have watched a lot of Gary's "XP Skill School" videos from Europe that have also be encouraging.

In my case, you can be assured the ORX will be learned, and in the process it will go head-to-head, nose-to-nose, against some very proven performers for hunting dense iron debris sites, and also worked in more traditional urban Coin Hunting environments as well. No matter how good the ORX might be, I have a select number of detectors in my Outfit that are 'keepers' for certain applications and won't easily be replaced. Urging me to take on the challenge is a desire to see if the ORX will make a good 'fit' in my detector group for both general hunting needs, and I have certain uses I specifically hope the ORX will perform for me while being lighter weight and staying well balanced.

As you use and work your own ORX afield, remember to compare it side-by-side with models you now own and use, then when you make a post you can provide info for others as to the modes and settings you use, of all models compared, and the end results. Describe the site hunted and your interpretation of the results from your point of view. That's what I'll be doing down the road.

I'm only going to have about a week's time to get familiar with the ORX before the Nevada Outing, the 13th thru 16th out of Wells, and even knowing some of these townsites well since I've worked some of them since the latter '80s, it is still going to be a learning curve to tackle working a new-to-me detector ..... but it's going to be fun doing so.thumbs up

Best of success learning your device.
