Lance, my XP ORX arrived yesterday morning.

I got the new package with the 5X9 elliptical HF coil.

I was too busy with some needed garden work (I know, a late start) and I'm heading out in 10 minutes to the nursery for the veggies to get planted. By later this afternoon I hope to start reading the User Manual and figure out if the XP ORX is going to be a fit in my arsenal. To be honest I have my reservations about it.

I like and harp on things being 'Simple,' 'Functional' and providing 'Performance' for the sites and applications I would use them for. I am not into complexity and never have been. I have a great selection of detectors in my Outfit, and they all have their place for the different site challenges I generally encounter, from urban sites to very testing Relic Hunting locations.

Those include my two non-display Tesoro's, a very versatile yet easily affordable Fisher F44, older discontinued favorites that served me well before as well as now with the Teknetics Omega 8000 and White's XLT, to newer offerings like the White's MX-7, Teknetics T2+ and very versatile and waterproof Nokta - Makro Anfibio Multi. And I certainly can't forget my two most trusted serious Relic Hunting devices for dense iron contaminated sites, the Nokta FORS CoRe and FORS Relic.

I also use several tough test samples from actual in-the-field scenarios when I compare any make or model detector, plus they all have to go up against models in my current Regular Use Detector Outfit ... side-by-side. I always hold out hope that any newer model entry might get a bunch of positive check marks and achieve a level of acceptance for me, but I know that many won't. Without even turning the ORX 'On' yet I already have a few negative things jotted down on my evaluation test notes.

I don't think the ORX is going to be in the 'Evaluation' mode for long with me. I'll probably drop a few e-mail questions to you and Joel as I progress this weekend and see if anything can help me along.

As you know, it's always good to have more than one detector in your arsenal to complement the others in some way, and that's exactly where I am already. I am thinning out some of my duplicate units and others as I trimming the number down, and just not sure an XP product is going to be something that impresses me.
