Gregg, you said earlier:

I agree, even though not actually owning a Nox 800, I have hunted aside them and from my observations, it would not be my first choice to hunt the old iron/rusted tin infested ghost towns. On the release of the Nox 800 a lot of hype followed and a lot of people fell for that hype. It has its place, but an iron/infested with rusted tin pieces is not one of them. There are better offerings to deal with those types of environments. gregg

And yes, I assumed you were saying the FC was your 'first choice' since that was your main machine.

I was not upset in the least, just wanted to know why you thought your machine was better than the Nox. I also stated "honest question", since, even though the Nox is new to me, I've done quite a bit of testing - particularly in the area of iron separation, and found it to perform as well as any other machine that I've seen. Filtering through your response, I grabbed a few tidbits that you mentioned:

The Fors Core just happens to be a 15kHz machine...................I never have stated in a post that 15kHz is absolute best freq to use. gregg

That is not what I asked. I asked what made it better than any other 15KHz machine. A few of your answers:

I like the Nokta/Makro machines because of their unmasking abilities.

They work better because of circuitry design, coil selection etc etc.

It can perform better than a lot of machines operating at different freq, rather its one freq at a time or a mess of freq running simultaneously.

gregg

A "mess" of frequencies???

Realize that the FC has been out for 5 years now, the Equinox only 1 yr. In fact last year, before the Nevada hunt, I could not even buy an 800 and settled for a 600. I also could not buy a 6" coil, as they weren't even in production yet! That is crucial to ghost town hunting. I therefore ended up using the Nokta Impact (new to me, no experience) and my trusty MXT the last day, when I thought a change to a familiar machine might help. But as said, you have to pass your coil over a target to find it! Point being, the Nox has some time on it now, and maybe you compared it when it first came out with an 11" coil, and with a non experienced user? (asking, not assuming smiling smiley ) Besides the 6" coil, it has adjustable recovery time and iron bias. Changing these, changes the character of the whole machine in a trashy area.

Have you seen the Nox running the 6" coil? (I see there is a 5" available for the FC). Given only an 11" coil, I wouldn't use the Nox except at the beach! BTW, I never said the 'only' advantage of a Nox is ID at depth. That is one of its better features.

Funny. You said

... if the Fors Core offered Iron Audio Volume, to me it would be my perfect machine.......... gregg

Pssst. The Nox has that! smiling smiley

Bottom line, Gregg - no hard feelings. Not trying to start brand wars, or question your choice of machine. Any hunter must feel comfortable and confident with their detector to have fun and be successful!

I simply wanted to know why you thought it was better (from my engineering / spreadsheet mentality smiling smiley That is because the Nox can operate at any single frequency, now has the 6" coil, and has a very fast recovery time - all those features that contribute to picking out good targets in the trash.

Anxiously looking forward to seeing you again in Nevada and comparing notes.
