Re: Eneloops

Not a "poke" at you Monte, maybe a poke at alkaline batteries though. I do advocate for Eneloops since they will hold most of their charge for 10 years, (80-90%); they don't EVER Leak thumbs up, and can be recharged a thousand times or more. Not much to dislike about them, and after losing quite a few electronic devices to Energizer bunny leakers, including a Tesoro Stingray, I am done with them except in throw-away items. If I went around and counted them up, I probably have about 50 eneloops in various devices.

In fact, just yesterday I found that my old UV flashlight no longer functions due to my leaving (non-energizer) alkaline batteries in it. It had not been used for more than a year. It will never work again. I thought that I had cleaned out everything with alkaline batteries in it, but forgot that little bugger.

If you're using stuff every week and don't let it just sit, I guess they are ok. Still, you would save a lot of money with the "loops". But stuff you put away for awhile until you need it..... they are a very bad idea.

note: My DeLeon and Golden ┬ÁMax are safe, each with a fully charged set of Eneloops currently in their battery packs. No worries... they don't leak. They're ready to go today or next year. grinning smiley

So as to not play favorites, attached are photos of a new flashlight sealed in it's original plasic coffin along with some leaking Duracell AA batteries. I am lucky they were not in the flashlight.

I'll pull out in about five hours to use two 'Foreigners' and one 'USA' favorite.
