Re: I know you like the MXT Pro, Jim, and where you live

Yes, I do like the Equinox slightly better than the MXT Pro. But I still use the MXT’s and will never part with them. I bought a carbon fiber rod and counterweight from Steve’s Detector Rods for the Equinox, and with 12 oz. weight it balances perfectly with the 11” coil. The coil just seems to float above the ground with hardly any effort. The 6” coil balances without the counterweight. The only thing that I don’t like about the Equinox is the lack of coil choices. I wish that they made a coil size in between the 6” and 11” coils. It is a very simple detector to use. I usually hunt in Park 1. I just turn it on, do a noise cancel, adjust the sensitivity, and start hunting. And I have had pretty good luck with it. I have found one gold ring so far, two or three silver rings, one silver dime, and lots of miscellaneous interesting items.

Weight is part of the problem along with balance, and search coils
