The battery thing is scary but not surprising if true. (The wrong side of) Oregon banned single use plastic bags as of January 1 “to save the planet.” I detected the beach this week, expecting to see it paved with plastic. Lo and behold, the only plastic I saw was a big piece of a flotation device, and nary a plastic straw to be found!

And another irony I observed on our trip: industrial hemp is touted as a “green” product and many acres were planted in our area this year reducing hay production and causing feed prices to shoot up. But after the harvest of this “green” product there is truck sized dumpster full of plastic is left over.

I wonder how many single use bags does it take to fill a dumpster?
