Monte,

I plan on bringing along the Deus (deuce) and Fors CoRe (ol' Yeller) for duties in Wells this year. And if we have a Retro Hunt, I'm likely to grab the old Bandido. As a beep-n-dig, the Bandido will hold its own against all comers.

Rich.

Rich,

I'll be bringing my two XP ORX devices, one with the 5X9½ DD HF coil which I feel works pretty well in those sites we haunt .. (Remember, they are 'ghost' towns).. and for many site conditions the XP Deus and ORX's can work quite well, and I'll be prepared to hunt during the night if it gets too hot in the daytime because I'll be using my ORX. .. (Many don't know what the letter-lingo stands for and it means Overnight-Rewarding-Xperience.) .. You'll be using the more featured model from XP, but it's designed just for Day-Use.cool smiley

The Nokta CoRe, especially with the 'OOR' DD on the working end, is one of the best detectors to have in hand when taking on the very dense iron debris. I'll have my CoRe with me, also, plus my Nokta Relic w/5" DD, and I always travel prepared to work a site with what might be considered a 'Retro' unit.

So, what might we call 'Retro' you might ask??? Good question. thinking

Since almost everyone today is using a much more 'modern' detector that relies on 'digitally designed circuitry' and also features, 'Visual TID & Audio Tone ID,' then I would say a 'Retro' detector might be anything that is an 'Analog-circuitry' design, and is an 'older and discontinued model.'

To satisfy that category we would include ANY of your Tesoro's, as I do my Bandido II µMAX and Silver Sabre µMAX. I also consider my single-tone modified IDX Pro to fit in the "old-fashioned' or 'Retro' category, too. If I have room I will also bring along a few other 'Very Retro' models that anyone would be welcome to use and experience the good points and bad points we used to enjoy in the '60s, '70s and even drug out in the earlier '80s.

Yes, come on the Outing and try your hand with a Garrett Hunter BFO, or Compass Coin Hustler TR, or a Garrett Master Hunter TR-Disc. and they will all be powered up and 'fun' to use. A bit educational, too.eye popping smiley Why, some of these 'Retro Era' detectors would even be available for someone to purchase and take home to start their own early-day collection!. thumbs up Show off a neat detector with some choice old coin, trade token or artifact you found using it in a genuine ghost town in the 'Old West.'

We might not have a Retro Day, but we can ask those attending when we get started about what they think of a Half-Day effort with something proven to work .... and yes, your Bandido is a choice example of a proven-performer.
