Kickindirt, about the ORX and coils used.

Ive been saying for years that the Xp 9" round DD was special. cool smiley
For the detector & coil demonstrations I was doing with Gregg yesterday, I brought in my ORX with the round 9" X-35 DD coil. I used it in both my 5 User Coin Program and 6 User Coin program and the only difference between them was the operating frequency I had saved, plus to show him Iron Volume, I turned it 'Off' in both saved programs on some coil passes. My Saved Discrimination on both ORX's (the other one has the 5X9½ DD HF coil attached) is set at '7'.

For my 5X9½ HF coil, Program 5 is at 14.4 kHz and Program 6 is 31.1 kHz. On the one I used with Gregg, having the 9" X35 coil, Program 5 is 7.7 kHz and Program 6 is 13.1 kHz. I also have the Iron Volume 'Off' in Program 6.

Using both my ORX set-ups, meaning using both search coils, I used my Program 5 & 6 with each model had had good hits on the 'Plank Board' going East-and-West, meaning left-and-Right across the Nails and Coin on top. When the Nickel was placed on the bottom and an inch below the Iron Nails, the 9" X35 did okay in either Program 5 and 6, but with the 5X9½ HF DD coil, it was marginally acceptable in Program 5, but just fine in Program 6.

All I know for sure is I have settled on a very good Detector Outfit with a nice selection of models on my Relic Hunting Team and Coin & Jewelry Team. I'd considered selling the ORX w/9" X35, but I like it for more urban Coin producing sites so it's going to stay

In many ways I agree, however, not totally. Here's why.
