And now, the morning after.

First: For those who think Gregg has given up on the Nokta FORS CoRe and he's abandoned all hope for success in ghost town type sites, don't be alarmed. Gregg maintains an inventory of his regular-use CoRe always at-the-ready, as well as his FORS Relic, original Racer and Racer 2, and perhaps a back-up or two..

Second: As for me, I had a moment of weakness when thinning out a lot of detectors I had on-hand (which was ±20 units) and I had duplicate of some models I trimmed and errantly let my 2md CoRe go in a trade deal (of which Gregg & I have done many-a-time this past 7 years). My 'original' CoRe I received in January of '15 was among the stolen detectors, but I was fortunate to get it back.

I had it and my 'back-up' or 2nd CoRe powder-coated an 'Edge Red' and last year I had my son alter the lower and middle rods in his shop to detector could b3e shortened for a better fit in my vehicle for travel. After I let my 2nd CoRe go to Gregg in a deal I soon regretted it. I missed my custom colored and shortened rod system, I missed my CoRe to keep the 59½ DD mounted and at-the-ready, and I missed that early version CoRe because it was one I got from Steve H. and was an earlier version that can store the Ground Balance setting in memory when you Save you settings. I had t set for the highly mineralized and very iron littered gold mining ghost towns sites.

Now, here I sit in my den this morning with my Edge Red CoRe w/'OOR' DD and matching Edge Red Core w/5X9½DD hanging on my den wall display followed by my Edge Blue Relic w/5" DD joining them.. I spaced out the vacant pegs and then next up in my Simplex+ w/11" DD. It's going to be a beautiful day for detecting before the major cool-down and rain/snow that's coming this weekend, but I have to hang around home all day, or at least until the UPS driver gets his big brown truck here, because signature is required when they deliver my brand new Nokta Impact.

I bought it with the 5" DD and 7" Concentric coils, and once it arrived I'll mount the 7" Concentric a the primary-use coil, then input all my preferred settings, save them, and then hang it on the already positioned hooks on my wall. Those five Nokta / Makro units should satisfy my personal wants and needs for selected applications with the coils mounted.

So, my day has already been budgeted to hang around and get my new detector and get things all set up. Those five are completed by a few other detectors, and even one of those might still end up being sold or traded. All my other detectors are out in my vehicle for what detecting I might be able to fit in later today after delivery, and possibly tomorrow and Friday before the unpleasant weather arrives. Most of the others are out in my rig, but I do still have my Tesoro Silver Sabre µMAX on the wall and my 'loaner-unit' Fisher F44.

I mention that because it's always enjoyable to play around and learn, so after putting my back-up CoRe together and mounting the 5X9½ DD, I used all the models in the house for one quick 'test' on an altered Nail Test. My Silver Sabre µMAX has a 6" Concentric coil mounted as that is all I use on my Tesoro's, and it displayed splendid performance on that quick 'test.' Just helped to reinforce why I have enjoyed using Tesoro's for almost 37 years, and why they are one of the detectors I use to compare all others that I decide to evaluate.

Anyway, I'm glad my reliable CoRe is back in my group, and I know that Gregg was still well outfitted before the trade, and perhaps just a bit better off now, too.winking smiley
