My favorite sizes of search coils.

Yes I do think I will like it. The older I get the more I learn toward the simple machines. Love my ORX too. Yes my favorite of the nokta makro coils was the 5.5x10 I believe is the size. I'm thinking they should have the smaller coils out very soon..

Because I devote most of my detecting time to very trashy older-site, the smaller-size search coils have served me well. My second choice coils for less trashy areas on the fringes of the old sites or just for getting out 'scouting' or some urban Coin Hunting use are the mid-sized search coils. In wide-open grassy areas or for working plowed fields, rangeland or pastureland, then I go with a bigger-size "standard" coil. For example, consider my current Detector Outfit:

I mainly use smaller coils such as the 4.7X5.2 DD on my Nokta FORS CoRe (the one I call an 'OOR' because of its slightly 'Out-Of-Round' shape), and a 5" DD coil on my FORS Relic or Impact. I move up to a 6" Concentric on my Tesoro Bandido II microMAX and Silver Sabre microMAX.

For urban Coin & Jewelry Hunting or for 'scouting' purposes or hunting fringe or sparse-target areas, I like a mid-sized coil. Those include a 7" Concentric on my Nokta Impact and 5X9½ DD on the FORS CoRe, a 5X9½ DD HF on my XP ORX, and the 5X8 DD on a Minelab Vanquish 540.

The wide-open spaces are handled by a 'standard' coil, like the round 11" DD on my Nokta / Makro Simplex + and 9X12 DD on a Minelab Vanquish 540.

Nokta & Makro, when separate or now joined, have made a solid-body 5½X10, but I prefer the slightly smaller and narrower open-frame design of the 5X9½ DD. Just a personal preference.

And for the Simplex + my 'personal preference' for smaller size coils would be a 5" DD and 7" Concentric. I'd really like a Concentric coil that works on the Simplex +, but not anything larger than a 7". The only other coil that would interest me would be an open-frame 5X9½ DD, but the most important coil need I have for this model is a 5" DD.
