Liking the set up so far.

Played around some more with the Z-lynks and they work very well. I was most surprised by the headphones. I really thought that they probably would not sound great or be loud enough ( for us people with less than great hearing) I was wrong and that was a nice surprise.

The products seem to be well made and they also include a nice little case to put the WT-1 ( wireless transmit) and the WR-1 ( wireless receive) and accessory cables in while not in use.

LOL Del, it's actually pretty simple and straight forward, with no extremely high IQ needed. And that would be a good thing for OregonGregg. The most complicated part of the whole process might be figuring out the way you want to configure your wireless Z-lynk set up.

If your machine has a standard 1/4" plug then get the kit that has the 1/4" plug/cable that plugs into the WT1 transmitter. If you have a Garrett machine like the AT series then that will require a different type of connector to be able to plug into your machine. Once that is all figured out, you can decide to just go with the WR3 wireless headphones. So the WT1 will transmit straight to the headphones no WR2 required.

If you want to use your corded headphones, then you will need the WR2 ( wireless receive module). WT1 that is connected to your machine transmits to WR2 which is clipped to your belt or pants pocket and you plug your headphones into that.

I ended up with both, so that gives me a choice of either using the wireless headphones or if I want, I can still use my Pro Stars. Either way I am no longer tethered to my machine by a cord.

If I remember correctly ( correct me if I am wrong) but I think the Apex will have the Z-Lynk tech already in the machine, if so then all that would be required is the Wireless headphones. ( Curious though, if the Apex has that built-in, will that also transmit to the WR2 and use corded headphones that way and not have to plug into the machine itself ?)

I very much like the Garrett Z-Lynk so far and the only real test remaining will be to see what kind of run times you will get on a charge. Just so happens that the outing in Wells will be the perfect testing place because we get up early and ususally spend long days out at these sites.

I am hoping I can get a couple of long days run time out of them before recharging. According to the manual you can expect 30 hours of run time before recharging. If so that should work out nice. Also the little red LED light will start blinking when you get to less than 3 hours of charge left.

The one last thing to figure out and try, is to get my Z-lynk capable pinpointer and see how that works out.

Very much looking forward to the Wells outing. They have always been fun in the past, a chance to meet up with a great group of people and hopefully find a keeper or two. And it looks like according to the extended weather forecast, that we might be in for some nice weather as well.
