A lot of what you said I can relate to, such as a dark green that almost looks black. There are some green colors, call them shades or hues, that are not appealing to me, while a bold or darker green I do like such as the Teknetics T2 original, T2 Classic or T2+ versions.

I'm looking forward to getting a Garrett Apex in my hand because I like it configuration oh, what it appears to offer, and the two tone of the control housing. The main body being black and the front display trim area is more of a gold color. I have not however been a fan of the yellow used on the Ace series. From a marketing standpoint it seems to have worked for Garrett metal detectors, but to me it's more of a trim color. With the whole control housing that color, for me, it's just a bit too much.

Then it's also I guess the combination of how much color along with the particular shade or intensity of the color because some of the older detectors were bigger metal boxes that were red and it just seemed off to me. The original Makro Racer was read and came across as being an attractive looking unit. I feel the same about the Minelab Vanquish series. Maybe it's because the control housings are not oversized, and maybe it's also because the arm cup and stand are also the same red color and it just makes an attractive looking package.

I know in my original post I referenced black when I referred to the Anfibio and Simplex +, as well has the Minelab Equinox. But those colors are more of a black or very dark grey. Most people look at them and just consider them to be black rather than slightly off-black.

You did bring up gold and having only come up with one gold coin, 42 years ago, I think if I found another one I would find a powder coating company and have them match that same gold color to refinish the detector that I used to find it. Then, yes, I will carry a gold colored detector.

Then, too, I also got to thinking after I read your post if the color might influence which detector I first grabbed off my back seat when I get somewhere? Since I usually travel with three or four units oh, I think I'm going to mix them around in a different order and see, over the next month, if I tend to favor one more than the others and determine if it was due to color.

Okay I guess that's all I can say at this point except I'm going to head to the green grassy Park and see if I might find some dark brown copper coins, or some shiny silver dimes and quarters. And due to the remnants of all the range fires I'll be hunting under a hazy sky.
