functional over looks anyday

my dad was 100% colorblind. i diagnosed him as a child with an encyclopedia that had a color blind chart. he was going to HVAC school at night in the 60"s . he was a meat cutter and wanted to be able to do refridgeration basics when coolers went out. was essential. he was turned out of the class. twice he went flying across the room, and once took an instructor with him shorting out things. dangerous voltage. He said the instructor told him he could not read a schematic. i pulled out the encyclopedia and showed him the colored dot page . what number is there in this Dad? boy aint nothing but dots. mom said eye doctor time! knew he had some issues. he wore white shirt khaki pants black bow tie trade mark old time meatcutters in stores. and thats ALL he wore. . red lights he had no idea except to stop on the bright one at top he admitted. we went thru a town with new sideways designed redlights. he panicked and was fortunate enough to see traffic movement. mom yelled its stop on the left lit light!. so color to him was moot. . he functioned. best he could.

my point is my spare Sabre is a hodge podge of gold shaft, black shaft, painted the box black because it was so scuffed up, and named it Zorro with it painted with red model car paint on the side. ..lol.. UUUUUGGGLLLLYYY. it was modded to experiment and works fine and is a soother to me. so easy and finds stuff. this was a neglected unit acquired very used and beat to pieces, but it works. needed some tlc to work. my philandering old partner said big ugly women need a little love too. different day in time to say that back then. lol.

i had two guys ask did i want to borrow a decent unit. man that thing looks like it come from a scrap bin. Frankenunit! the guffaws rolled out! i had told them about a small demo lot and we met up. . they pulled out a G2 and a T2 se with small coils still new looking units with dust covers etc.. and both very experienced hunters. . i fired up the sabre. when it was over-- they said that ole beat up thing owned this lot! they had squat. basically trash a few modern clad. i had 3 barbers two old postal locks, and an 1812 artillery corps button and other goodies . ugly works!

i buy a gun, used and abused second hand, cheaply, pawn shop make me an offer gun. . and between a buddy we spruce them up, fix them , and if they function right sell them or keep one occassionally, like a ruger 10/22 i fixed the other week. . . i have scratched a new gun before, new metal detector before etc.. thick brush is rough. i dont purposely abuse them but environments can be trying. so used and ugly but functional is for me. clean of dirt, yes, fix broken part or replace, yes, dinged yes, working yes, worry about another ding or scratch..no. price is right yes, so i dont puke over a new machine cosmetically ruined. i normally buy used. and i now that i have a new Simplex i already put a scratch on the faceplate so it indoctrinated. at its price not crying like a friend that dropped and gouged a new machine 4 times the price.

as a detective i worked a case with a bunch of stolen power tools. there were 4 different atrocious color schemes of paint on them. and no serial numbers on some readable due to use. . went to pawn shop and recovered with and without serial numbers--not required on some old tools to pawn due to wear, and got records of thieves who pawned them, just walked along the bins and pointed them out . made arrests. got convictions. returned tools. the contractors on a big apartment complex had all agreed to put a paint scheme on stuff to tell who owned what. one guy had a granddaughter that like pink and purple. so it was striped that color. slime green and red on one company. cosmetically ruined. but worked. and sent thieves to jail. ugly functionable identifiable worked!

this winter i might repaint the Sabre and make it more respectable looking. maybe... if stolen there is not another Zorro. see it a mile off... its that ugly. like an ugly woman that can bake a good biscuit.. a keeper! i married pretty and eat Hardees biscuit lolololol!!!!!
