heeeeellllpppp! Monte, what am i doing wrong with the SimplEx?

Monte, i grew up poor as dirt. playing checkers with bottle caps on a board drawn in the dirt! I can do that again!

I went to a soccer field, this one is primitive so to speak, just bush hogged and used for little league t ball practice and a year ago a hispanic soccer group used the field and marked it off, built some pvc net frames. cleaned up big trash around food tents etc.. overall nice folks. this dirt was red clay over fill.Barracks set there in WW2 but were torn down and deep foundation dirt filled over. on the fringes i have found a few wheats maybe a silver rosie, slide belt buckle lead pipe seals good for making my musket balls, etc. iron crap.

my point... using the SimplEx, carefully using the settings, paying attention, directions in hand, i was PLAGUED with bottle caps. The Hispanic folks loved their Corona, and Icehouse, Budlight etc... different caps everywhere. i could not get around them. 68 to 98 readings, depending on year and composition. the folded in half, half moons rusty ones, had one ring up 98. The one thing they just did not pick up was the darn bottle caps. like an old country store with a drink box outside. caps caps caps. everywhere, and all compositions from aluminum to steel.

i checked iron settings, used all different modes etc...

I can usually sail thru this with my Sabre except the aluminum caps, and the AT Pro i know the difference most of time. due to steady numbers , 40s era figured the servicemen could have left alittle more silver or two on fringes, but its buried or dirt pushed to industrial park around it off limits The Hispanic league oddly enough i did not see them wear a lot of bling, including the women foodies in the tents. poor migrant workers i think.

anyway, and tips on these caps? i dont need depth here because its red clay very deep, and when really wet i have dug down over a foot deep to discover big pipe fragments, era aluminum cans commonly tossed by big equipment workers( non alcohol) and lead pipe seal. no deep coins so i know it was fill dirt from adjacent industrial buildings construction. when its try.. forget it. anthing a foot deep is like prying out rebar.

sooo help me if you can!

another note i meet the lady Wednesday on the machines. send me an offer on the garrett s-2 including shipping est. 20 bucks. snail mail. he paid $40 bucks for it, from widow of original owner. may still have box, unless the kids threw it out... dont know how she will be or if children have influence, doubt it but one never knows. but will see what i can do. thanks..
