Monte and others. I have been reading your forum for over a year. Decided I better join in I live in North Central Iowa my favorite hunting grounds are old Parks and Fairgrounds. I love to hunt old farm fields where one room schools once stood. The other place I like to hunt when I can get permission is abandoned town sites. Mostly south of the Fort Dodge area where there were many old abandoned coal mines.

I like to hunt with my old analog metal detectors. I mostly like the older White's the 5900 Di Pro Plus being my favorite. I also have a White's 6000 Di Series 2, and a 4900 in reserve. I also own three Garrett detectors none newer than 30 years old. For the White's detectors I have the full array of coils from the 6 inch Blue Max to a 12 inch Hot Head coil and every thing in between. I do find that I end up using the 6 inch Blue Max coil in the parks and school yards. The Hot Head and 9.5 Blue Max on open farm fields.

Started detecting back in the 1970's back when there were treasure shows that you could rub elbows with all the big names of that day. A number of times some of the big names and I crossed paths on the treasure trail. When the TR/VLF detectors came out we start to rework the park and we found more than what we thought was there. Those old BFO detectors were fun and we got a lot of finds. When Charlie Garrett came out with the Master Hunter TR/VLF We were in heaven. Then the Red Baron came on the scene we couldn't believe our eyes or ears.wonder what the old guys would think of today's detectors. Well they might just get out there old Metrotech detectors and still out hunt us. At 70 with bad knees and hips I still find my share of goodies. I just don't move as fast and follow along behind these young bucks with there $1000 detectors finding everything they left behind.

I will chime in if I have anything to add. In the mean time I will keep reading about your great adventures.
