"I would say the CTX3030 " ... But, in a LOT of modern trash?

For modern trash in old parks searching for old coins I would say the CTX3030 with 11in and 6in coils is the best. Depth and target ID is unmatched. I can dig more old coins in an old park than any other detector made on a given day.

When I was younger and could tolerate the annoying weight and balance issues of the Minelab FBS models, I used the Explorer II, favoring the 11" 'Pro' DD coil, and it was one of the models that provided me decent depth-of-detection in old parks and such. But in cleaner areas. Another that worked quite well was the White's 6000 Pro XL / XL Pro as well as the 5900 Di Pro SL w/'CB' circuitry with either of those using a good 8" Concentric or 950 Concentric coil.

But Dan'o asked about a lot of modern trash, and when there is an abundance of shallower modern trash, it is going to cause target-masking and eliminate or impair any opportunity to find deeper, potentially older coins. I took his question to imply tougher locations with abundant newer trash where you are more likely going to be finding modern coins. Places like around a well-used picnic bowery, or maybe around some bleachers or spectator side-lines at a sports field, and so on.

Those would be where you would be better served with a smaller-size to mid-size search coil, and also using a detector that could provide very quick-response and fast-recovery to isolate potential coins in a close mix of discarded debris. Maybe something like a Deus w/5X9½ DD or a DeepTech Vista X w/5¾" DD, or something else you might have.
