Monte not trying to cause any trouble for any one. Just relating what I have been reading on the different forums. Yes as I said I carry a iPhone in my back pocket when I detect. To be very truthful I have never any trouble with any interference on any of my detectors. I don't run super high sensitivity just run it where the detector is stable without faults signals. i do have a handheld two meter transceiver that has caused me nothing but fits because of our local radio station. It's the handhelds fault poor design .

As I've stated, I always run my detectors at full / maximum Sensitivity and reduce it only to the point of stability should they be chattery where I am. I also usually keep my cell phone in a phone older on my right side near my back pocket which has it close to the detector, and that's when I am not using my gear-belt. I often just have a digger attached to the knee-pad on my left knee so the phone stays with me. Sometimes when using my gear belt and pouch, the phone is in a pouch pocket. When I have interference, I've checked my cell phone and it has never been the cause of the problem.

I have a detecting friend who in into ham radios and he has told me about some problems he has and needs to leave his mobile phone in his vehicle. The only time I have an annoyance from my cell phone is when I am detecting and get frequent spam phone calls, but that's an annoyance even when I am not detecting.

Sometimes the sources of a problem or even the observed distance can be surpsising.
