Have to agree AND disagree with you on that one Gregg.-----Over hyped--oh yeah--they did that all right---the b.s. was just ah flyin!-----

The Equinox was definitely an 'over-hyped' model at entry. Claimed to out-perform all Single-Frequency VLF detectors, but it came with it's own selectable set of Single Frequencies, and then to add to that this past few months they had another 'update' to add a 4 kHz frequency even though they already offered a 5 kHz choice. And I found a few places I hunted where I had improved performance opting for a Single Frequency over the Simultaneous Multi-Frequency Multi-IQ design.

Ghost towns full of iron & rusted/busted tin & fallin on it's rear yah say?smiling smiley-----I don't see that happening--not hardly.------It's nothing overly special in the iron---but---it's the best rusted./busted tin "worker" I've ever seen WITH THE 6" COIL (and I've tried a bunch).----

Correct, it isn't anything 'overly special' but the Equinox and \Vanquish do provide some help dealing with rusty tin. My White's XLT using Bottle Cap Reject also helps to audibly and visually 'classify' rusty tin, and mounting a round 7" Concentric coil on a Makro Racer 2 instead of a Double-D coil also helps to visibly and audibly help with rusty tin.

Having said all that---they can loose that 11" coil for it--have no use for it.-----IMO, it's something of a quirky noisy running little buggar & I can see some people not liking it.----But--it can be very effective if used "right".---Myself---the only use I have for it is with the 6" coil in ghost townsy areas (mainly for working the tin--(to a lesser extent iron).------

I'm with you regarding the Equinox and coil choice. I only liked the 6" DD on it. In some open plowed fields and over at the grassy park, i much preferred my Nokta / Makro Simplex + w/stock 11" DD coil over the Equinox 800 with a comparable 11" DD coil.

As to park hunting---I wouldn't use it for that---that's when I get ahold of my CTX or Etrac (which whips its butt in that scenario).-----To me the E800 is a specialty use detector & for use ONLY with the 6" coil & that's the ONLY reason I keep it.-----So yeah---I agree---and---disagree with you my friend.smiling smiley---------Del-------

I can't handle and don't care for the CTX 3030 or E-Trac even though I know what they are capable of. But for 'park hunting' and similar urban grassy sites, I have an ample supply of detectors to choose from so, once again, the Equinox wasn't needed.
