My test gardens are over 20 years oldeye popping smiley

I have a couple of test gardens ....one is surface trash with zinc & copper pennies mixed in down to 5 inchs, I let a good friend dig up what he though was silver dime and it was a 4 inch deep copper penny. He was using a XP ORX with the HF 9 in. round coil. These trash targets are roofing nails, Ptabs,& rusty beer bottle caps...etc.

My other garden consists of buffalo nickels, one gold ring, silver dimes , quarters, half dollars and 2 peace dollars. depth ranges from 5 inches to over a foot deep on the silver dollars. If I go broke, I can always dig up some silver...lol

I started by running my White's XLT in Disc.mode over the area to dig up and clean the area...well...I should have run the machine in the Normal All-Metal mode because one of the nickels was masked by iron and was not found until later. My soil is dark rich Kansas soil and I waited till we had a soaker rain so I could dig deep nice plugs that held together. It is important to make sure to make firm and whole plugs to bury your targets. I carefully placed the intact plugs over the buried coins that lay flat or parallel in the bottom of the hole. I watered it in and it was reporting audio very well even on the deep ones...TID was off some what but it was working well within a few months. One thing to note is freshly buried coins do not respond very well especially deep ones.

'Test Samples' are good. A 'simple' test plot isn't bad. --- Just as long as the tester knows *****
