Where's Waldo ?

October 16, 2020 03:17PM avatar
Just a thought here Monte - Time spent spinning your wheels on the other forum with your favorite contrary friend is . . . . . . . . well, time spent spinning your wheels and wearing out those two fingers you use for responding to posts. Different era detectorists - different approach to the hobby - different way of doing things. - I don't see a conversion happening to either of you in this millenium.

As for having a small coin garden for testing purposes, there's certainly no more harm in a coin garden than having a NBT handy or keeping a shoe box of various targets around to see how a detector responds in an air test. Whatever works. In the winter, a shoebox of items will be handy, in the three other seasons, I think I'd prefer a little coin garden. Plus, I get to exercise the detectors ground balance abilities and check the ergonomics. And I would actually prefer doing it out in the yard rather than in my house where I'm surrounded by all of the EMI from a myriad of electronic items.

I am a little old school. Unlike your favorite contrary friend, I likely won't get out a GoPro (which I don't currently have) and document my session. I've been a little slow in coming around to video documentation as I've usually been able to put in a few words what needs to be said. Still, time marches on and probably sooner rather than later, I'll be sporting some GoPro like camera at a Nevada gathering so I can show Gregg how much he REALLY wanders around. grinning smiley Ill have pictures Kinda like Where's Waldo, but with Gregg. LOL
Rich -

It's YOU that makes the difference.

'Test Samples' are good. A 'simple' test plot isn't bad. --- Just as long as the tester knows *****
