Trying to decide..

October 17, 2020 05:09AM avatar
I have my CoRe and Relic machines to tackle the nastiest of sites, but want to get a machine next Spring that is ergonomically friendly, offers a nice mid-size coil that I can swing all day and cover fringe areas ( moderate to no iron) and open areas.

Any Ideas?

I have been waiting for the Apex reports to roll in ( UtahRich get out there and use that new Apex ya have and throw us a report smiling smiley
The Apex so far seems to be about a 50/50 like and dislike. Might even consider a vanquish. Or who knows maybe I'll actually consider a 1st Texas offering like a T2 or F5 or ??

I also have my MXT and M6, even though they weigh more ( 4lb range) they do balance very well. Maybe just put them back into service full time.

When we get done processing high moisture corn, i'll spend some time over at Monte's as he has quite a selection ( or will have) to look at and play with.

Maybe I should have tried the ORX when Monte still had one.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated, as I really haven't used much of anything else out there other than my Whites and Nokta/Makro machines.

The Core or Relic with their small coils balance nice and can swing all day. But I have to admit after using the CoRe with a mid coil for 6-7 hrs straight, I literally had to pry my numb fingers off from around the handle. On the last trip with Zincoln a month or two back we worked a big wide open area. I began to see why people would complain about the grip angle etc on the Core and Relic machines ( especially the Relic handle as they re-did the pinpoint trigger and really messed up the grip) The other Nokta/Makro offerings don't seem to balance that great with the mid to larger coils ( except maybe the Simplex) But if I do get something I want to try something different other than another Nokta Makro machine. As I said I have my CoRe and Relics and at this point are the only two machines I really want from that company. So OregonGregg believe it or not is willing to expand his narrow little mind a bit.

I have more leeway in that I want to use this machine to detect the fringe areas and open areas. I don't intend to hit the nastiest iron filled/rusted tin areas with it, I'm covered for that. So I just need a lite well balanced general purpose machine that offers some nice features and will do well for what I intend to do with it.

The Apex does have my attention, but waiting to see what coils will be available for it. The ORX on paper fits the bill, but still have to get my mind used to the thought of having to recharge 10-15 things to make the thing even work. So throw me your thoughts and give me some ideas to think about.

Thanks

Gregg, if you decide on an XP ORX, I almost agree with Andrew's suggestion.
