So, as day-break approaches and I've finished another night with a few hours spent watching a few things, I just thought I'd share a few comments here for ahrps. forum-followers and that is this:

• Always have an open mind when watching a video or listening to a podcast, knowing that sometimes other people's opinions or comments might not reflect reality or be something you need to believe in.

• When watching or listening to anyone's presentation, always be alert to learning something new and useful.

• Set out on such a relaxing experience to make it enjoyable as well as educational. By that I mean learn something that's good or useful, but also learn what isn't.

• Also, there has recently been a bit of negativity on some posted videos, and the individual went a little overboard by being rude, foul and negative towards people and towards detector manufacturers, and one or two brands / models specifically .... mainly because he doesn't use them, promote them, and I can guarantee you he hasn't used them afield to really learn them and know their strength and weaknesses.

If you get tuned-in to such a presentation, just stop and think about it. There are a lot of people driving vehicles that I don't like, own or care for, but those are THEIR choices. I like to only make positive comments about things I like. There are so many different fast food places, cafes or big restaurants they see a regular amount of business because a lot of folks tend to favor certain things that are different than me. That's fine. I'll eat what I enjoy and I'll talk it up, but I am not going to get really ugly and bash what other people like or tell people their product is terrible or just pain crap.

From what I have watched or listened to, it let me know why there are so many people who get involved in this great sport and/or end up with nutty questions, and it's because they have been misinformed by others or just do not learn the how-to's about detector operation and search techniques. It's like they have been lead astray and are totally lost and just don't understand their detector choices or how to get the most out of them.

So stay on your toes and be alert to some of the things you might watch or listen to. It can be sidle entertainment, but sometimes worthwhile. And with winter season approaching for those who won't have the opportunity to get out detecting much until next spring, remember to not tuck your detector away for a long winter's nap. Spend some winter-time hands-on even indoors and learn your equipment better. Know more about its strengths as well,as weaknesses. That way, when you get out again in the future, you'll be better prepared to enjoy success afield.
