If you take two excellent Tesoro's, such as my two all-time favorites, the Bandido II ┬ÁMAX and Silver Sabre ┬ÁMAX that were both introduced in October of 1997, 23 years ago this month, and appreciate that they both operate at 10 kHz and were basically designed from the same basic circuitry as a Manual GB model and a "turn-on-and-go" Preset GB model ... and you mount the identical 6" Concentric coil on each of them .... then you might have them up-and-operating in 60 seconds or less. No problem.

And you might then presume they should each provide virtually identical in-the-field performance .... BUT ... in doing some comparison testing you discover they are not quite the same. Very, very close, yes, but in one or two side-by-side comparisons, you learn (discover ??) that one of the two has a performance 'edge' over the other at least for handling one or two types of site challenges we might face.

It's always a learning process, and it's fun to learn and know what the differences might be in favor of one of these two very similar models over the other. So yes, like you, it was easy to learn and understand and quickly make very proper adjustments of their controls to get-into-action and start hunting. That's one of the reasons I enjoy these detectors ... however, I never stop wanting to learn more.

PS: For those looking for either of these Tesoro models, I currently own two Bandido II microMAX and one Silver Sabre microMAX units, and NO, none of them are for sale or trade. Matter-of-fact, I am always on the watch for a choice condition specimen to come along at an affordable price.

Good question, and a relatively short reply ... for me.

How many detectorists can say this...Blindfold me and hand me a completely misadjusted metal detector and have it running tip top in about a minute or 2
