Is Monte running more comparison tests?
I started doing some caliber comparisons in '68, and continued doing so until maybe a decade or so back. Kind of like picking the right search coils for assigned tasks, and then figuring out which metal detector handles or performs-the best with certain search coils.

For semi-auto or self-loading handguns the .380 ACP vs 9mm vs 40 S&W vs .40 S&W vs 45 ACP?
In search coil and detector comparisons, the .380 is 'cute' but doesn't get enough depth or perform as well as a bigger coil.

The 9mm and .45 ACP have a long history of proven performance. The .40 S&W was like having a coil that got enough depth, but it was heavier and awkward and was uncomfortable for most to use. And, by comparison, would beat a detector to death from frequent use. So personally, I favored the 9mm/ -aka- Smaller-Coils for most day-to-day applications, and the .45 ACP -aka- Larger-Coils for a bit added depth and covering more open territory. But due to age and impaired health I can't work the slides/handle the heavier packages, so I've thinned out the bigger stuff.

For revolvers the .38 Spl. vs .357 Mag. vs .41 Mag. vs .44 Mag.
Owned them all since '68, but didn't like the fatiguing weight and burden of the heavier models & Bigger, Heavier-Coils -aka- .41 Mag & .44 Mag. for my more frequent needs so they went their way.

I've found that the Lighter-weight and Comfortable .38 Spl. & .357 Mag.-aka- Smaller-Coils & Mid-Size Coils seem to take care of all my routine needs and be able to handle anything that comes along.

And for either a self-loader or a revolver is the venerable .22 LR as well. I know Monte likes to be thorough.
In either design, I felt the .22 LR HP compared favorably with a light-weight, Handy Handgun -aka- Tesoro Silver Sabre µMAX or a comfortable Long-Gun -aka- more versatile Tesoro Bandido II µMAX. Something that can be handy to have on-hand for any sort of day-to-day encounter. That brand detector has worked fine for me since 1983, just like the pip-squeak caliber has since I was 8 years old.

Translated, my Tesoro's are always handy and travel with me, and I am well supplied with smaller-coils and mid-size coils and the devices that use them well. Does that afternoon analogy work okay?

Yes indeed, but first I tried to make sure it was the detector.
