OK, I'm laughing

C'mon guys. It's not that complicated. A couple of mild tweaks to factory programs and away you go. The main thing i do is run in Pro mode. I get to see all of the hits on my screen and those better targets create bell curves around the primary VDI, then normalizes all 3 frequencies to one VDI. Copper behaves this way. Nickel and silver, well those typically have a very, very tight pattern around the target VID - more of a straight line response than a bell curve. I can see an iron target on the low end of the scale and a good target on the positive end - in the event i'm getting blended audio or masking. Its not perfect, and I miss things, just as i would with another machine, but I've learned where i can gain extra info and advantage.

Anywhooo, because i spend time detecting with Gregg, i own 2 of them. One day these threats may become reality, and i need to have a backup:-)

As for the D2 coils, i like mine well enough in a park. They are big and they get about as deep as the 13" ultimate in our soil, but I know what they tell me. When I'm in the brush or at the GT, a smaller coil will get mounted. The two i have pinpoint closer to the rear of the coil, and may be jumpy on the periphery of the coil, but I can tell most of the time when its a nail vs. a coin...even if the VDI's are inconsistent on deep targets. I have very, very rarely dug a coin when I got those very high VDI's that jump over to iron as you work the target, but i still dig them. I call it the ladder. Starts good, then climbs til it peaks over to negative and then starts again. Sometimes a very deep nickel behaves somewhat similarly. Deep silver tends to ring up higher than it should - meaning a dime may ring up as a half or silver dollar....but that's when you are at the limits of the machine in that soil. I have yet to dig a deep silver that rings consistently into the negative (say a -90's on the white's scale). I've dug many, many thousands of targets, and not a single one had the target rolling over the top of the VDI scale on a silver coin. Could i have missed some and not dug them - maybe...but i've looked for consistent targets hitting say a -93 down deep....and it always turns out to be big iron or tin or???

Gregg - i'll look for a V3i junker i can send you for target practice:-)
