I'm not so sure they are trying to market these to seasoned veterans who care about coil dimensions or descriptions. The fact of the mater is that sex sells and they just made the Vanquish sexy, smart and quietly dominate all without saying anything! That's brilliant marketing in 'todays' society and is gear toward the feel good consumer who want so desperately to be cool and come out on top. I think this video is to appeal to a new demographic who they don't yet have. This is why facebook exists at all. We all get to be out best no matter what is really going on.
I hop Garrett comes out with something similar, as in to the same crowd, just not reactionary to this video. They can take the high ground so to speak by not showing a competitor's machine and a fumbling friend and just let the cool, fun, great color scheme and new format, physical and technical, speak for itself.
Remember Fonzy on Happy Days? Nobody had to no one, to use his vernacular, that he was cool, it was just out there for everyone to see.
As there are plenty of 'serious, hardcore' detectorists out there who can and will make up their own mind about which detectors to own - some people out there need another reason to buy and Minelab just gave them one. Once again, I thinks this is smart marketing.
