Re: But Why?

November 26, 2020 12:12PM avatar

if I chose it would be the V440 as an economical model ... or the EQ 600 as a high class ..

Went with Vanquish 440, poor ol' OregonGregg is low class smiling smiley

In this terrain, the Vanquish 340 simply didn't work properly anymore. The other Top Detectors - EQ 800, Vision, Alter71 and ORX, could be set up to work well enough.

Isn't the Multi IQ in the Vanquish the same Multi IQ that's in the EQ 800 ?? What makes the EQ 800 so much better. Does having more settings to tinker with make it better. Or did you actually run the EQ 800 in a single freq. to make it work better in the tougher soil conditions ?

it's not just the price limit that separates some detectors from others ... these detectors must really be technologically higher than the middle and low-class detectors, which work quite well in less demanding conditions.

So what makes the EQ 800 " technologically higher" over the Vanquish series. I guess I need to study up on Minelab machines. Does the EQ 800 offer more frequencies in its Multi IQ arrangement over the Vanquish series? I just figured Minelab Multi IQ was just Minelab Multi IQ.

Will I not get the whole Minelab Multi IQ experience like you , UtahRich and Del get with your EQ 800's? I also want Golden Forest, Unicorns, Rainbows and Fairy Dust......if not, that certainly will be a bummer............. grinning smiley

1st answer .. I have a Vanquish 340 myself .... it's a great detector for this money ,, and also technologically a piece ... in mild conditions it will detect well .. ,, but in very demanding conditions it will not be as good as EQ 600-800 ...

2nd answer ... all Vaquisha programs are more or less based on the * Beach program from Equinox .. and moreover all programs at Vanquisha have a recovery speed set almost equally somewhere at the level of 3 Equinox recovery speed ...- this recovery speed will work well in moderate terrains ... but on more mineralized terrain, or otherwise demanding, such recovery speed stops working optimally ...

Equinox has a wide range of different programs for EQ 600 there are 6 of them ... Park1, Park2, Pole1, Pole2, * Beach1, Beach2U ... EQ 800 is 8 different programs .. + Gold1, + Gold2 ...

Equinox 600 has three additional sizes of recovery speed settings / 2-4-6 / and Equinox 800 has even 8 rec. speed ../ 1-8 / .. so you can do this detector very well for terrain type or separation ...

For example .... Equinox started to work well on the treasure of Roman coins from recovery speed 4 ... and more ,,, because at a lower recovery speed 3 it was already a problem to process this demanding 3-layer and quite subdued terrain ..

.. This also explains why Vanquish could not work effectively on this terrain due to his low recovery speed ...

... The terrain of the golden forest 7 bar Fe3o4 is even worse .. there you have to use a minimum recovery speed of 5-6 at Equinox ... and the optimum is 7 ...
Vanquish, of course, has no chance of its fixed recovery speed 3 ..

Equinox is not the culprit here .. all detectors worked well and reliably here only on high Ground filters / recovery speed / ..

3.Answer ... Equinox is Technologically Higher in addition to a better range of Programs and Recovery speed .. also with the option to:

A.use of manual, semi-automatic, or even track Ground balance.

B. the possibility of using a single frequency - with properties that are really very little known to people ... it's really a bonus ..

C. well adjustable Bottlecap reject- Iron bias .. strongly adjusts the separation properties of the detector.

D. better audio adjustability. multitone, 5 tone, 2tone 1 tone

Thank You EL NINO,

That makes a lot of sense and some things I did not consider such as adjusting recovery speed and Ground Balance. Minelab seems to think GB is not necessary with Multi IQ, but it appears that to be able to GB your Equinox machine will gain you some advantage. UtahRich also stated that as well, about ground balancing the Equinox.

Also, I didn't know that the Vanquish machines are more or less based on a single program. Ok, I can see where you can gain your advantages with the Equinox series.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Yes, it was sort of funny, but at the same time,

Del, one of my gripes with Minelab, and a thought or two.
