Abilene, Abilene, Prettiest town I"ve ever seen, Abilene. remember the old song went something like that. Have a daughter in Garland, which is northeast Dallas . they are getting a lot of snow and ice so you would feel right at home! but its not normal for Dallas, its usually the panhandle that gets the white stuff. she is actually excited since middle Georgia has not seen a record big snow since 73 and we get a dusting or icy snow condition once every 10 yrs here. north Ga Appalachians get it but not where i live.
Monte, i understand completely about a move. Some of my inlaws lived over and hour and a half southeast of us, interstate and country highways, not bad roads just wreck laden stretches with bad results of ditches and pine trees. we had to make the trip too many times to assist. we were closest and dependable. before that is was 100 miles or so north to Atlanta and horrible traffic to do the same weekly for 4 yrs. my kids grew up in backseat of a car. we still have 1 left , a step, and the only available full nursing for immobility and Alzheimers is north thru some traffic close to interstate and 45 minutes away in good traffic. she is a step and no children and her own nieces and nephews either have thier own hands full or too far away, some unwilling, . basically it was dumped on us. stepmom of 22 contentious at times yrs. wifes dad asked us to look after her. we are legals with a sister in law also a step from his second marriage in Minnesota. this woman was his third, all dead before her, as well as he died two yrs ago Alzs and heart at 88. my local stepmom died too 3 yrs ago. had that to do. sooo the long story is, if you are going to need help and your kids or whomever in my case are willing and trustworthy and will be good help, yes,. make it easier on them. by all means . give the living what you want them to have while you are of sound mind. relatives and others with no right will loot a house in a heartbeat. relatives will get wills changed in a heartbeat with a crappy lawyer and take advantage. power of attorney be careful, have a will, and most important have the will entered in the probate court where only you OR the executor WITH a death certificate can get it. also be reminded that power of attorney cant get rid of everything and actually negate a will to a big degree, if nothing left. been thru all of this. my stepmoms attorney no kids of her own, told me to do that. HER attorney, knew them long time, and said sell it because two doctors had to put her in home due to severe strokes and blindness, man its easier to divide funds than property although some junk still had to be done. we had to write a monthly check for expenses and it stopped the home from taking and doing quick sell of property and squandering the money on unnecessary stuff. the home was great and 5 blocks away. simple home good manager owned by a local judge. ..new owner kept manager and expanding and wants same way it has been run. we would go there ourselves.
so yea Monte, i know the guys and girls will miss the inperson hunts a lot. maybe see them on vacations. but we are not sporing chickens anymore.. except coinboy lolololol... do what is easier and necessary. we are cleaning out still junk, i mean junk keepsakes whatnots still. but making our on future easier and contemplating a move locally for a handicap accessible house, mine not feasible although greatly upgraded as small and old as it is. section 8 slumlords renting to trash buying old folks houses kids dont ant. 50 yr old suburb going to hell. time to go and absorb a lesser loss, but downsizing once again . good luck.
May the last hole i dig be my own, and will a fellow detectorist cover me up. And you can have the pulltab!
