Hi Gregg,

No ghost towns around here, but lots of fields with abandoned homes, parks, and the beach. Anyplace civil war related is completely off limits unless it's private land and you get permission.

I'm certain to use the stock coil on the beach, but had wondered if the mid sized 9.5x5 DD or 10x5.5 DD coils would be useful here. I can't find the 9.5x5 DD coil available anywhere, but kellyco appears to have the 10x5.5 in stock. I don't know if there is any performance difference, but I understand the 9.5x5 is an open design, while the other is closed.

There is a YouTube hunter from nearby Virgina Beach that always posts videos of his hunts in local fields. I'm going to try and contact him and see if he'll let me tag along.

Hi Rick,

Finding the 9.5 x5 coil for the Fors CoRe is extremely hard to find as they are as rare as hens teeth. I had to get one shipped from the UK years back to get one. The 10 x 5.5 coil is also an excellent coil. In fact it was the coil I used all day on my last hunt when I got the 50 cent token.

If you still can get a 10 x 5.5 I would get it while you can. In a lot of cases, I really like the enclosed 10 x 5.5 as it glides through the weeds and stubble much easier. It's a great mid-size coil and it's not afraid to take on some iron and trash smiling smiley

The best thing to do is just start getting some hours on the machine. In time it will start to make more and more sense. I'm guessing on your beaches and large fields you will be using two-tone, plus 2 tone mode is a deeper mode. In the trashier sites ( like our ghost towns) I like to use 3 tone.
