j.t., there will be differences in detector or coil selection based on individual interpretation.

the thought occurred to me that the second "group" of detectors would be "superior" to the first group because of the hunting environment that they are designed to work in, therefore negating inclusion of the first group.

(h.h.!)
j.t.

The second group of detectors and coils, based on how an individual list the group order, are not always going to be superior to the first group if used in the applications of the first group. They might be oh, they might work well oh, they might even be the same detector and search coil as I indicated in my list.

But it also gets down into the particular type of application did you checked her and coil would be used for, and it especially depends upon how that individual likes that particular combination for a particular task. For example, some Coin Hunters might prefer a Tesoro model for quick work of Tot-Lots, but they might not care to use that model for working a dense iron contaminated Ghost Town. I know, from ample experience in a lot of my favorite ghost towns, that several good Tesoro models rewarded me impressively and I still enjoy using them in those types of challenging sites.

You also have individuals who like to have a multi tone detector, such as maybe a two-tone or three tone or five tone model, but they cannot stand most of the multi multi tone functions. I, for one, am in that category.

And naturally we have to remember that many hobbyists have a very narrow scope of detecting site selections. The majority of hobbyists are typically urban Coin Hunters and probably do not have any serious hunt-time in old-use locations with an extremely dense array of Iron Nails and other ferrous debris such as shards of rusty tin .... at least not to the extent of the types of locations I have hunted for over half a century.

So that's another factor that is very difficult for each of us to Define and compare our own interpretation. I can't explain too many people what it has been like when I have a friend or a guest who has joined me on some of my outings or trips to some very tough to hunt sites. They felt they had hunted in Iron contaminated conditions and knew what I was talking about. Then, after maybe 10 minutes to an hour trying to hunt the places I've described, they are totally amazed had how iron littered those sites were, and they exclaim the really nasty amount of iron conditions there were.

I also know people who exclusively Relic Hunt so trying to determine what detector and coil would work best for them if they wanted to take on a new challenge of Coin Hunting city-sites could be difficult.
