the SimplEx going away, its just not fun to me, keep turning it off by accident--duhh dont like buttons on it. just cant gel with it. going to friend. salute to Notka, it just aint me.
The Simplex +. Quite a detector. A lot of useful features to adjust as desired, reasonably good balance and feel, a great operating frequency for general-purpose hunting, simple to operate, and even waterproof for those who like to get wet. With the 5X9½ DD coil it is really a handy detector for a lot of folks to own and use for darn near any type of hunting environment. ------- BUT -----
► They failed to make a good smaller-size coil for it, such as a 5" DD or even the 7" Concentric.
► They put the On/Off button right in the middle where most would normally expect the Pinpoint control to be. I've only goof3ed twice and I got my Simplex + early upon release, but I know several people who have a problem with it quite often.

my lunch hunts about all i get nowdays are the Shadow x-2 and or the Silver Sabre Plus with Precision 7 and Mojave coil respectively. tot lotters
Yep, always have at least my Silver Sabre
microMAX w/6" Concentric riding along for any break-time I allow myself, for quick work at tot-lots, etc. I've enjoyed using a favored Tesoro for over 38 years now and don't plan to quit. Sad they went out of business, but they are very durable models and I feel every avid detectorist ought to have and use at least one Tesoro in their outfit.

my relic machine is the Eldorado Umax with the 9x7 coil. a surefire.
The get-serious Relic Hunting sites I frequent are terribly cluttered with all sorts of Iron debris and for them I use my Nokta FORS CoRe w/
'OOR' DD and FORS Relic w/5" DD as well as my Bandido II
microMAX w/6" Concentric.

my serious hunt, serious park unit, and especially near water or wet is my AT Pro with the 5x8.
I also grab a Garrett as one of my two 'general-purpose' detectors, and that is my Apex w/'Ripper' coil which is also a 5X8 DD. A second pick is my XP
'ORX' w/5X9½ HF DD, or maybe the 9" X-35 DD, if I keep that coil around.

may have an old friend come back to me soon, thats another post. have special place for it.
We can get attached to some favorite models and, at times, let them go only for hindsight to get us looking back and longing for their return. I have only one 'old friend' I parted with that I would like to get back. Trying to track down who I sold it to.

see no need for anything else. if i lived in Florida or near coast would own an Excalibur or PI unit. but dont so declutter.. like the silly commercial-- pay only for what you need. and minimizing for future due to health concerns.
No need for a PI on my Detector Team and, unless something really impressive happens along, I also don't see a need for anything else as I am very comfortable with the performance of all my 'team' players, and they are also very comfortable to use. With my health and mobility limitations, I feel I have trimmed down to a very functional, workable batch of detectors I call friends.
