Hi - i am Rick Hart --live north of the Dallas /Ft Worth area just south of the Red River. I appreciate being accepted on this Forum -and it one the last true forums with plenty of feedback.
And you are more than 'Welcome' here as we do have a lot of good Forum members and we post some pretty decent material on our various Forums. A great bunch of people, to be sure. Both you and BigTim1873 have a fair amount of experience in this great sport, having both started back in the '80s. That means you have some field-time experiences, and have used an assortment of detectors, to help mn contribute to various discussions that come up, and help newcomers as they try and figure out how to hunt, where to hunt, and what to use and how to use it.

just turned 65 and started detecting back in 1986 with a Teknetics Mark 1 (Gosh paid around 700 dollars for it !). Off and on detecting over the years till 2001 when i got the internet and found the "forums" -which renewed my interest in detecting -Monte was one of my first email contacts asking for his advice "seemed to be the man in the know" -- i have dealt with some you over the years - . i presently hunt with a Nokta Impact (bought from Joel "kickindirt") a fine dealer / gentleman. Also hunt with a Tek Omega 8000 and have a Cibola -high tone.
Sure were a lot of good targets around back then for urban Coin Hunters. I've owned a couple of the original Teknetics Mark 1's, both the 'Ltd' versions, and the Omega 8000 V-4 was one of my favorite Coin & Jewelry Hunting detectors for parks, schools and other city-type sites. Your 'high-tone' Cibola fills a gap similar to what the Silver Sabre
microMAX does for me in my outfit. A very useful tool to keep at-hand.

When i first started detecting in the North Texas area -it was old homesites , farms , fields and such -now with the huge amount of Urban sprawl, housing additions , -- i look for properties that have been bulldozed down -and get permission from the realtor /owner to hunt the few weeks before the new addition is built , Rick
I need to adjust my detecting plans now that I've moved to Mid-West Texas, just east of Abilene, because I don't have all of the accessible public land or all of the available ghost towns and other favorite sites I have enjoyed in Oregon, Nevada and Utah. Like you, I need to get busy and go after more permissions in this vastly private property state.
I wish you the best and look forward to some posts describing what you used, the type of site you hunted, and the results for your efforts.
