The list of features and modes is comparable to the equinox. Warranty is a full year less. Sven commented that the housing can be opened and is waterproofed by an O-ring. Thus, parts can be replaced on the service bench as needed, which I see as an advantage. I believe XP has both beat with a repairable housing along with a 5 year warranty, 2.5x longer than the Nokta and 2 years longer than the Minelab. It also appears more ruggedly built than the ultra light travel ready equinox. If I can be frank, the Legend is Nokta's "knock off" of the equinox 800 at a price point approximately $300 less with an available pro pack for a just a bit more.

The only question remaining is, how will it perform? Garrett recently came out with their multi frequency Apex. While it is multi frequency, its signal processing isn't in the same universe as the equinox. It does however, have superior ergonomics to the equinox as well as this new Legend AND gets Garrett solidly onto the salt water beach at a price point below both.

It remains to be seen where the Legend settles in regard to signal processing; in camp with the equinox, outside of the ballpark with the Apex, somewhere in between. Could it be improved?

Minelab has a 30 year lead in regards to SMF. I'm not expecting Nokta to be pitching their tent next door. However, Nokta has shown they can engineer. I am expecting something better than the Apex performance wise. Though much more expensive than both, I am watching the Deus 2 to see what innovations XP has come up with. Rather than a knock off the extremely popular Equinox, they have struck out on their own.

Hit the brakes, turned around, going the right way now.
