Understanding the "squawk-like" audio response.

I was watching YouTube videos on the Time Ranger pro and one thing I noticed is a high tone coin will change it's tone at depth to a lower sqawk type tone. I would imagine F19 the same way?

"Squawk" might be a close description.

The F19 is a 2-Tone detector based on the use of the V-Break setting. The Ferrous / Non-Ferrous break-point is '40' so I set my V-Break at '40' which then produces a Low-Tone for most Iron-based targets. All the gold jewelry and US coins and trade tokens, as well as pull-tabs, pry-tabs, aluminum screw caps and other non-ferrous trash, produce a High-Tone. But here's where the differences in audio come in.

Two points to consider:

1.. The F19 uses a very modulated audio response. Some detectors are designed with a lot of saturation so the audio and signal strength is loud and strong to, or almost to, the full detection depth. However, the F19's do not have a lot of saturation, therefore, after just a few inches, the modulated audio takes over and the audio response will quickly start to decrease or trail off. That weaker, modulated High-Tone might then sounds more like a "squawk" in comparison to a shallower target.

2.. The F19 also uses a VCO enhanced audio response, and it is coupled with the signal strength. A US 25¢ at about 2" from the coil will not only have a louder, saturated audio, but also a higher-pitch due to the VCO enhancement. As the coil and target are closer the VCO is very pronounced, and that helps alert an operator a target is relatively shallow.

As someone learns the F19 they can develop and ear for the audio responses based on the shallower Saturation and quickly trailing-off to a more modulated audio. Using the Modulation as well as VCO enhancement, and operator can realize an Iron Low-Tone is just that. But the various High-Tone responses can alert them of a bigger-size target or a very shallow target, or one at mid-depth, and also those that are deeper and have a more modulated and weaker audio and also lack any perceivable VCO. Those are the deeper and weaker targets that have more of a "squawk-like" audio response compared with a shallower target.

Hope that helps.
